Pre-emergent and early post-emergent contact herbicide, belonging to the N-phenylphthalimide group, part of the PPO herbicides. Flumioxazin is known to inhibit the activity of protoporphyrinogen oxidase, allowing the accumulation of porphyrins in the plant.
